Dad's Baseball Glove
For the obverse of the Baseball coin I wanted to create a design image which takes advantage of the deep concave nature of this unusual coin, in much the same way that the round baseball is accentuated by the deep convex of the reverse. The rendered photos of my 3D design submission illustrate the design elements as it might appear on the $5 gold version of the baseball coin. As a subject, I chose the form of a baseball glove which functions as a "basket" for a thrown or batted baseball. Any baseball glove could be the subject. In this case I sculpted a baseball glove that was in use in the 1930's and 1940's and because it was just like the glove that my father used when we played baseball together when I was very young boy.
