This scene is a pitcher's eye view showing a batter swinging. Pictured is the exact moment the ball strikes his bat, one of the most electrifying moments in all of sport (not just baseball). Also pictured are the catcher and home plate umpire.
This design is classic -- has Augustus Saint-Gaudens risen from the grave to do this ?! It has all the elements of the game: offense (batter), defense (the pitch), the rules (umpire), all the equipment -- bat, glove, ball, batting helmut, spikes, catcher"s outfit, home plate. Plus it has the ultimate "moment of truth" in any baseball game ! The dynamic perspective gives the viewer the feeling that he is a player in the game. BTW -- I see home plate behind the E in "we" and the T in "trust". HOME RUN !!!

Why are there only 23 coins? I thought there was to be 25 finalists.

There are 24. We announced that up to 25 were eligible for the semifinalist round. In the end 24 were moved to the semifinalists.
